Unfortunately we have decided to postpone our sports afternoon due to the bad weather. We will let you know the new date as soon as possible.
Dear Parent / Guardian,
I am delighted to introduce an initiative to you as part of Hinchingbrooke’s Transition process; the Get Ahead Booklet. Following feedback from staff and students, we have prepared a series of tasks for students to work through between now and when they start at Hinchingbrooke in September. Much of the work will be set as homework in the final half term by the current Year 6 teachers. The work should be completed on separate paper for each subject, so that it can be stuck inside the front cover of their new exercise books in English, Maths, Science, Geography and History.
Completion of the tasks in this booklet will help students by:
Introducing them to the topics they will study in September
Helping them with organisation skills in terms of completing all the tasks in the allotted time
Encouraging them to work independently
Giving them an opportunity to continue to use and develop subject specific skills over the Summer
If you have any questions about the tasks in this booklet, please feel free to contact the Lower School Office (email@example.com) who will be able to pass on your question to the relevant member of staff. Students can also ask questions during the Transition lessons or across the Taster Days in July. Furthermore you will have the opportunity to meet staff from all of these departments (and others) at our Taster Evening event on 5th July. More details about Taster Days will follow in due course.
Thank you for your continuing support with the Transition process and specifically with this initiative.
We are keeping everything crossed that the weather remains dry for our sports afternoon, starting at 1.30 pm tomorrow. If we need to postpone we will make the decision as early as possible.
Please keep checking the website and Facebook for updates.
Our sports afternoon is on Friday 25th May, we will be starting at 1.30 pm. We hope you can join us.
We would like to say a very big thank you to Mrs Sykes for filming the Swifts’ wedding. Weren’t they brilliant!
What a wonderful event we enjoyed today! The Swifts’ wedding alongside our Royal Wedding celebration went so well – congratulations to Miss Allan and the children who performed beautifully 🙂 We will all be watching Anglia news this evening to see if any of the coverage is shared!
As we are continuing to have problems with our phone lines we now have a mobile number which can be used to contact the school. Please dial 07535724047 and this will reach the school office. Thank you for your understanding.
We wish all our Eagles good luck for their SATs next week – we know you will do yourselves proud 🙂

Our celebration assemblies will now take place at 2.30 on alternate Friday afternoons. We’re trialling this to see whether working parents are able to join us more easily. Please look out for a letter in your child’s bag, or a phone call from a member of staff to invite you along.
We’re enjoying another very busy week here; some of our Year 6 pupils joined with St John’s pupils for an informal football match on Monday while some of our Year 4 pupils took part in an orienteering festival at Hinchingbrooke.
What a fabulous first week we’ve had back – the weather has been amazing and the children have enjoyed new learning experiences in class and outside! Lots of use of the Studio has been made and we’re enjoying putting into practice the training we had as a staff on the 30:30 initiative. Could we ask that the children bring a water bottle, sun hat and cream to school please. Sun cream should be named to avoid confusion! Thank you 🙂
We hope you have had a good Easter holiday and look forward to seeing you all back at school tomorrow!
After another egg-citing Easter raffle we are pleased to announce that £71.70 has been raised! We will use this to enhance our wet-play equipment for the children. Thank you for supporting this event and we wish you all a very happy Easter.
Please check your child’s bag as we have distributed the summer term clubs letter today. We have some exciting new clubs on offer as well as other favourites.
Congratulations Kestrels and Red Kites on your fantastic performances of Cinderella Rockerfella! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and we are so proud of you all. Thank you too, to the audience at the evening events who together raised the amazing sum of £303.20 for the MacMillan Woodlands Centre. This is a charity which is close to our hearts as was mentioned so we are very grateful to you.
Another busy week is in store this week as Kestrels and Red Kites perform their production of ‘Cinderella Rockerfella’ on Tuesday afternoon to the school and guests and on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Tickets have been distributed, costumes are ready and the stage is set!
We are delighted to share the news that our Year 5 and 6 hockey team won their competition this afternoon! Mr Piper was very pleased with how they played and their sportsmanship 🙂
We have a very exciting week ahead this week; Mrs Saunders has arranged for a visitor from Wood Green Animal Shelter to work with each class and on Thursday we’re holding our Chinese New Year day. This ties in with our Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural curriculum. Children are invited to wear red clothes that day.

We will be sending Spring term reports home on Monday; please check your child’s bag. Please also ensure you have sent in your Parents’ Evening request slips as spaces are filling up fast.
After 15 years at Spaldwick we will be sorry to say goodbye to Mrs Hesketh in the school office tomorrow. We wish her well in her retirement and will miss her very much.
