What do the Governors do?......

There are specific duties that the Governing Body has to fulfil such as overseeing the post OFSTED action plan.

Another key duty is to report to parents annually.

The governors are more effective working in smaller groups with delegated responsibilities

 

How is the Governing body made up?

The Governing body is made up of

  parent Governors

  staff Governors

  LEA nominated Governors

  Community Governors

  co-opted Governors

 

What is the function of each committee?

 

The Standards   Committee

ü  write and review school policies for consideration and ratification by the Governing Body

 ü  monitor the policy for Governor visits  

 ü  managing the procedure for linking Governors to curriculum areas

 ü  planned a programme for review of Governor policies

 ü  working towards increasing and improving Governor curricular knowledge

 

The Personnel Committee

ü makes delegated decisions on behalf of the Governing Body concerned with personnel policies and procedures

 ü staff well-being project

 ü establish targets for the Headteacher

 ü appointment of teaching and non-teaching staff

 ü implementation of statutory personnel policies and duties

 ü strategic management of workforce reform initiatives

The Finance Committee

ü meets regularly to monitor and review the school’s financial position

ü constructs a working budget for the school, based on available resources 

  ü auditing of non-public funds

  ü open and transparent financial procedures

  ü monitoring best value principles

 

The Premises Committee

ü overseeing good housekeeping of school buildings and grounds

ü fulfill the requirements of the Asset Management Plan and Condition Survey

ü planning for the implementation of the Special Needs and Disabilities Act
