Based in our new purpose-built building next to Spaldwick School, we follow the six early learning goals set out by Ofsted who graded us as
“good”  the highest level achievable at our recent inspection.

We are registered with the Nursery Education Grant Scheme which means that you may use vouchers to pay for your child’s fees from the term after they turn three.  The vouchers will cover the full cost of attending up to five, 2½ hr, playgroup sessions per week for 11 weeks per term.  We have a lunch club for which there is an additional charge.

For more information, call 01480 890077

or e-mail contact@playtimesplaygroup.co.uk

PRESCHOOL PLAYGROUP (Monday to Friday: 9:00am to 11:30am)
Fees: £5.65 per session (payable every half term) or vouchers

Children may join playgroup when they are 2 ½ years of age. The aim of the playgroup is to provide a happy, safe and stimulating environment in which pre-school children can play together on a regular basis.

Each session is planned and includes play activities that help progress the children’s learning and development in each of the areas covered by the desirable learning goals. These are Communication, Language and Literacy, Mathematics development, Physical development, Creative development, Personal and Social development and finally Knowledge and Understanding of the World. Children are encouraged through play to use all their senses to explore the world around them. We provide safe and stimulating opportunities, using encouragement and praise for effort. Success breeds success! A drink and fresh fruit (provided by parents) are offered to children.

At the beginning of each half term a theme and list of topics for each week of the half term will be sent to parents. It is hoped that through these themes the playgroup child will gain confidence and self esteem through knowledge and understanding of the world as well as develop language and literacy skills. Children can come to each session with something connected with the week’s theme, so that this can be shown to the other children and discussed. Types of Playgroup activities are:

Painting and drawing/junk collage
Water play and sand play
Books
Playdough and clay
Physical activities - e.g., ball games, climbing frame, slide
Music, movement and singing
Cookery
Construction and table-top/simple woodwork
Home corner/dressing up
Nature and interest table
Annual sports day/summer garden party/Christmas party
Library van, visits to school, nature walks

PLAYGROUP LUNCH CLUB (Monday to Friday: 11.30am to 12.45pm)

Fees: £2.50 per session

This extends the playgroup session by 1¼ hrs. Parents provide a packed lunch for their child. This is very popular with children and parents so it is advisable to book in advance!

MUCKY PUPS (Monday afternoon: 1.30pm to 3.00pm)

Fees: £2.50 per session per family (payable at each session)

All parents and carers with babies and young children are welcome. It is aimed at the young child, from newborn to the age of five. For babies there are many stimulating toys and a cosy environment for parents to chat. For older children there is a wide range of interactive activities—themed each week which include:-

Play dough
Water play
Creative crafts
Painting
Quiet games
Singing and dancing
Story time
Number fun
Small toys for nimble fingers
Dressing up and role-play
Big toys
And all the other messy things you don't want to get out at home!
Accompanying adults will be encouraged to work with their children and join in the fun.

“Children arrive happy and confident in the welcoming environment, warmly greeting staff and their peers.  The staff have a good knowledge of children’s learning.  They use this knowledge to provide a wide range of stimulating and challenging activities and play opportunities.  The children are treated as individuals and respect is shown to differing needs, which encourages children to have respect for others.  They are independent and helpful.”
