The Blackbirds are getting stuck into the new topic and beginning to get absorbed in all the information. Next week we are going to be building rockets in teams and may just launch our own rocket. Please could I ask you to collect 2l plastic bottles and small cardboard boxes to help us to start making. Thankyou
The Blackbirds have two weeks of homework in their learning logs, they are now due in on the 19th of March.
First this afternoon we did some paired reading. Then we found out about pet rescue centres and created our own posters for our own made up pets to find a new loving home. We listened to a vet telling us what we needed to do to look after a pet correctly.
We have had a busy start in Blackbirds, it’s been really good to see everyone back healthy for the start (at least!) of term.
We did spellings today but the next 2 week’s tests will be on Tuesday because we have the life education bus next week, then we are off to Hinchinbrooke the following Wednesday . Please make sure you return the permission slip for this event.
Also going for green maths will be back next week so some practice over the weekend would be great……..
We have started writing our dragon stories in Blackbirds. We have set the scene to the story and introduced the main character using lots of adjectives and similes. Watch out for our dragon display appearing the classroom soon.
Happy New Year. I hope you are looking forward to a hardworking term. Our topic is Journeys looking at journeys into space, across the sea and land. This week’s homework is researching space travel and if you have any interesting information books at home you would like to share please bring in!
On Wednesday afternoon Mrs Berridge will take the Red Kites for cooking and as part of this we will be tasting different types of bread. Your child will bring home a food allergy tasting letter tomorrow (Tuesday) to be returned ready for Wednesday.
Good morning Blackbirds,
We hope you had a restful half term ready to start lots of hardwork! This half term the topic will be ‘Fire’ looking at Guy Fawkes, the Great Fire of London and completing some heating experiments in science. Spellings will still be set on Wednesday and learning logs will be given out on Thursdays. PE is Mondays and Fridays and please ensure the children have their reading books every day.
We are looking forward to receiving the habitat shoe boxes over the next couple of days.
Mrs Saunders and Mrs Berridge
We had a lovely afternoon looking at the needs of pets in our care and what makes a responsible owner. We compared the needs of different pets and found some were the same. We made zig zag books and illustrated them after watching a clip on how to look after dogs, cats and rabbits in particular.
The results along with paintings and our own pet shop windows will be on display soon……
Thankyou for a lovely afternoon Blackbirds.
