The Robins have had another lovely day today – they’ve written about their favourite books, thought about numbers and how many things we can see, for example, how many wheels on a bus, legs on a spider etc. They have written their names in shaving foam and of course, we had our Welly Wednesday! The children tried to collect a rainbow and will hopefully tell you all about it! We met a lovely puppy on our walk, looked at the cows and found some scrummy blackberries 🙂
Blackbirds have their log in details for Mathletics in their homework /reading diaries, let me know if you have any problems getting on, they have also had a refresher on how to get onto Purple Mash, so they might like to explore that sometime.
New spellings are also in there, we mark them together on Tuesdays so ask your Blackbird how they got on.
Lots of them were in the green this week and several are moving to a new test so a practice one will be in their bag today.
Well done Blackbirds, we have been busy working with money this week and today were trying to work out change!
Don’t forget to bring in or email a photo of yourself and another family member enjoying some of the games provided in the Whizz Kidz activities bags!
The Robins have thought about ‘Twinkle, twinkle, little star’ today and have cut out stars and ordered them according to their sizes, they’ve printed stars and practised writing their names. The children have worked with Mrs Leaver in the Computer Learning Area and we had our first PE session today! The children had a great time; they balanced on the beams and practised jumping off and climbed onto the PE tables and jumped off those… We have quite a lot of un-named PE kit though, please could you make sure that all your child’s clothing and belongings are named so that we can help them find their belongings? Thank you 🙂
Another great week with the Kingfishers has flown by: thank you all for working so hard! This week we have been writing biographies all about ourselves, its been brilliant to find out more about all the children, including some hilarious stories from home. Also, we carried on with our rainforest topic and had a fantastic DT lesson on Thursday creating rainforest dioramas (photos to follow once I have figured out how to do it!).
I have set the children their first homework task to complete some research on a rainforest of their choice (except the Amazon) and have explained they may complete it however they would like as long as it has 8 facts. It will be due next Friday but feel free to hand it in before then. On a final note, spellings will be Monday so keep practicing!
Hope you all have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend,
See you soon!
Silence & concentration filled the Woodpeckers’ classroom this afternoon, as they set about practising being archaeologists. Many ancient artefacts and fossils were excavated, however, sadly, no evidence remains… you will have to ask them where it all went to!
Well done Puffins! We are all starting to look and behave like professional year 5s now.
Another really busy week reading The Jungle Book and finishing off our work about place value. Homework has been set and we are all looking forward to making our mini books on Hinduism.
We continue to work as a family and enjoy sitting next to new people – we soon realised that we can work with anyone if you try, share and compromise. Thank you Puffins!

WOW! Week 2 finished already! What a fab week we have had! We have started to learn all about the seasons and the types of weather that we expect during each season. In maths we have been practicing adding 2 numbers together and writing the number sentence to show our sums. I was amazed at how well the Swifts can count in 5’s and 10’s!!
Spelling books will go home on a Thursday and are to be returned to school on a Tuesday. The children will have a small test on their spellings each week – so please practice them however you like at home! 🙂
Homework will start next week and will be set on a Wednesday and will need to be returned to school the following Tuesday (along with the spelling book).
Our 2 minute chats started this week! Well done to Arthur, Sofie and Alex! They were FAB! I loved hearing all about The solar system, Russian dolls and Karate! (Pictures will be uploaded soon so keep checking the swifts page!) The list for 2 minute chats is on the door going into the cloakroom – make sure you check when yours is!
Have a great weekend Swifts and I will see you all on Monday!
Blackbirds have had a brilliant couple of days and have worked really hard. Their stories have been fantastic, I had a lovely time reading about their animal adventures. In Maths, we have been learning how to make adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers easier and we have been helped by our friends Lily the ladybird and Sid the spider, ask your Blackbirds and hopefully they can explain! The children are enjoying our topic ‘Animal Antics’ and have been very excited to share information about how they look after their own pets with the rest of the class.
Have a fabulous weekend.
