The Robins have enjoyed some time playing in the snow today in their wellies, they were very excited, not enough to build a snowman however but I think they are hopeful that more will come!!
We have looked at the book ‘A new room for William’ today and the children had a good discussion about it. From this, some of the children have been in the creative area making bedrooms / houses and some have been building with the wooden blocks and Lego.
Mrs Hindmarsh took the children on a shape hunt around the school and she was very impressed with their knowledge on shapes. Ask your Robin what shapes they spotted in and around our school.
As it is World Book Day tomorrow, the children are welcome to bring in their favourite book or a character or item from their favourite book and they will have the opportunity to share with the class.
Enjoy the snow and wrap up warm (-:
What a lovely day we have had in the Robins today. It has been lovely weather but very cold so please remember to send your child in with gloves and a hat to keep little fingers and heads warm! Today we have been talking about ‘friendship’ and what is means to be a good friend. We have been writing sentences about how we can be a good friend and drawing some wonderful pictures. The children have enjoyed time outside in the mud kitchen, on the trikes and using the musical instruments. You should find your child’s Spring term update in their bags and it also has your parents evening appointment time in too. Some of the Robins have been learning new sounds today and others have been practising sounding out words to spell therefore not everyone has their red book to take home tonight.
You can’t know them too well, so keep working hard at those times tables; they’re about to come in handy for our fractions work. The more effort you put into to knowing them inside & out, & upside down & all abouts will be worth it- it’ll make fractions all the easier… go for it!!!!!!!
Another productive week for the Eagles as we began work on writing stories. So far, we have looked at the features of story writing and had a large focus on the structure of this type of writing. In Maths we have started work percentages, decimals and percentages and have we convert between these 3 units. We will continue with this during this week. Finally, we hare started a new Geography topic named ‘Mountains and Volcanoes’.
PE will be on Monday so the children should come to school in PE kits.
Also, homework was handed out on Friday and needs to be handed back in by Friday (2nd March).
Finally, SATs boosters continue after school on Monday (26th Feb) are completely optional. We will continue with our work on maths and will either look at Arithmetic questions or problem solving activities. Sadly, I am unable to run a booster session on Thursday (1st March) as it is parents evening.
Hope you have enjoyed your weekend,
We have our Spring Term parents evenings next week on Wednesday 28th February and Thursday 1st March – watch out for appointment letters in bags tomorrow. Thank you.
