The school welcomed members of our community this afternoon; some are members of the Welcome Club and others belong to the Royal British Legion. The Eagles, helped by Mrs Arbuthnott, provided afternoon tea for the visitors and we were very proud of the whole school as each class provided some entertainment. Songs were sung, poetry recited and art shared. The community members had a wonderful afternoon and the children were a credit to us all.
Don’t forget that the closing date for the Hallowe’en writing competition is Friday 6th November – the first entries are arriving now and look amazing 🙂
Everyone enjoyed dinner last night – pasta and meatballs and then, after a good night’s sleep – (the last room was woken up at 7.40!), the packing process has been completed and the morning’s activities will include abseiling and aeroball!
It was all quiet last night by 11.30 – and all slept well and were ready to get going at 7.30 🙂
The morning’s activities include problem solving and climbing… more news later.
The adventurers arrived at Caythorpe at 12.30 and it had stopped raining! After taking their bags up to their rooms and having their lunches the activities for the afternoon have been going well – archery and climbing.
Just a little reminder that the closing date for our autumn writing competition is Thursday 22nd October – remember to make sure your entry has the wow factor!
Have you checked out the ‘We are writers’ page? Our first challenge is now online – download the entry sheet and get writing over half term! Read the instructions carefully to make sure you’re in with a chance of winning the prize 🙂
The first entries to our first writing competition are just arriving now at school 🙂 Don’t forget to get your entries to me by Thursday 22nd October – I have loved reading those received so far…
Our first writing competition is now open! The theme is autumn – children are asked to write either a descriptive piece, a poem, a recount or an imaginative piece. Entry sheets are available in school and your child is reminded to think about the content, presentation and how their writing creates a ‘wow’ reaction for the reader. The closing date for entries is Thursday 22nd October and the winner will be announced on Friday 23rd in assembly. Entries will be displayed in the library. I’m really looking forward to reading the entries! 🙂
